Teaser Tuesday

MizB of Should Be Reading hosts Teaser Tuesday. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Here's a teaser from what my current read, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (p. 172):

"Well then, on that mercenary ground, will you agree to let me hector a little?"

"No, sir, not on that ground: but, on the ground that you did forget it, and that you care whether or not a dependent is comfortable in his dependency, I agree heartily."

Verbal trickery is something I always like... Cool!

Here's ours, no trickery, but some linguistic acrobatics for sure!

This was a great book! I remember hurrying through it in high school to get my book report done on time!

Sadly I've never read this one. I'm not much into classics but I have heard this one is great.

I must admit I've never read Jane Eyre and have never seen a reading list that someone hasn't had it listed. I guess I need to work on that one this winter.

This book was so good!! Totally captivated me! I had seen several movie adaptions of it, which I loved as well, but the book blew them all away!

Total respect...you have been on a classics run. Someday, when I step out of my comfort zone, I will know who to ask as to which one I should start with.

I've started Jane Eyre several times, but just never have been able to wade all the way through. I love the story, but Charlotte's writing style always makes me jittery after a while. Maybe one of these days I'll give it another try.

I ready Jane Eyre for school, and remember enjoying it, unlike most of the "had to read for English" class books!

Thanks for visiting my teaser today!
